The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi , has reacted to the threat made by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to lock down the South-East region if President Buhari visits the state. KOKO TV reported last week that the IPOB Pro-secessionist group released a statement via its publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, saying it has received rumors that the President is planning to visit the southeast state. The group said it will ensure the visit is not successful by enforcing a lockdown. The group in its statement said the President is not welcomed in the region as long as its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is still in detention. The President of The Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick , has said that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was sacked to forestall a “disaster” waiting to happen. “It wasn’t an individual decision; it was a collective decision from the committee,” Pinnick said on Monday when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily breakfast programme monitored by KOKO TV. “We didn’t want a disaster to happen before taking the decision,” he added. Dustin Poirier fell short in his bid to finally win the UFC lightweight title as he was choked out by Charles Oliveira in the main event at UFC 269.
