#UFC269: Julianna Pena Stuns Amanda Nunes To Win UFC Title In Huge Upset

Julianna Pena provided one of the greatest UFC upsets of all-time at by submitting Amanda Nunes in the co-main event of UFC 269 to win the women’s bantamweight title.

Pena – who had only fought twice in the last two years – was dropped by a calf kick from Nunes in the first strike of the fight as she struggled to land anything significant in the opening round.

The American was forced to defend submission attempts from Nunes whilst seeking her own from the bottom position as the first round came to a close.

Pena started to find her rhythm on the feet in the second round and was pumping out her jab to get the attention of the hard-hitting Nunes.

The two began to go back and forth in the centre of the octagon each landing significant blows, but it was the underdog Pena who was getting the better of the exchanges.

Nunes was visibly hurt and was backing up as Pena continued to land on the feet as the two fighters progressed into a grappling exchange.

Pena then took the back of Nunes and managed to sink in a rear-naked choke to force a tap from the Brazilian and win the 135-pound title.

“I told you don’t ever doubt me again. Willpower, strength and determination it will take you places,” she said after the fight.

“I definitely expected a win and I’m just so grateful, the world is my oyster. You have the ability to do anything you want in life and I just proved that in this fight.

Nunes, who also holds the featherweight title, was gracious in defeat, stating: “Congratulations to Julianna, she’s a warrior. Thank you for all the cheer and I’ll see you all here again.”

Earlier on the card, Geoff Neal edged out Santiago Ponzinibbio by split-decision following stoppage victories for Kai Kara-France over Cody Garbrandt and for Sean O’Malley over Raulian Paiva.

Dominick Cruz outpointed Pedro Munhoz in the prelims while Tai Tuivasa extended his heavyweight stoppage streak to four by beating Augusto Sakai.

Nigerian Actor Arrested For Peddling Drugs In India

Nigerian national, Chekwume Malvin, who works as an actor in the Indian film industry has been arrested for allegedly peddling drugs . The 45-year-old was caught red-handed on Wednesday near the BDA Complex in HRBR Layout by operatives of the Indian Police Service, attached to the K.G. Halli police division .
